When flying to a long distance country, most often, you transit on another country, either for the pilots to take a short rest, or for the airline to reconnect you with another flight. Transiting does not make you a permanent resident of that nation. It is only a stopover. On some stopovers, you are given the opportunity to go for sightseeing in order to kill the boredom of waiting for God knows, how many hours. Some countries of transit may look more beautiful than your destined intent, but that doesn’t stop you from continuing with your journey when it’s time to go. If your flight leaves you behind as you go window shopping, you’ll mourn, wail and blame yourself for being so unconscious. You don’t jubilate for being abandoned where your original destination isn’t. Anyone with a vision is on a long distance journey. This journey is full of transit…

Besides sports, another program I enjoy watching on television is animal documentaries. I can sit down in front of the TV for hours watching behaviorisms of animals because it teaches you the root and essence of nature. Many times, as I watch these documentaries, I get inspired. I don’t only get inspired; it also brings me into a better understanding of life and how nature responds to it. This article was inspired by one of those documentaries. On the National Geographic Wild channel, I watched a documentary on the Mamba snake. The Mamba snake is a predator that kills and swallows other animals. In color and other physical appearances, except you are a Biologist that specializes on snakes, you won’t be able to tell the differences between the male and female mamba. But among the mambas, they know who is who. What really amazed me about this documentary was when…

While on a public bus one day, the driver was driving so fast on top of a bridge. As we approached a curve, my expectation was that he would slow down, because that is what common sense demands. Contrary to our expectation, he kept moving on the same speed. Only through a stroke of luck, we escaped a catastrophic accident. As one of the tires tilted from its position, everyone in the vehicle screamed for help. It was a great relief to get to my bus stop, as my heart was right in my mouth. Strategy and common sense are important factors necessary to make various approaches successful. The tactics utilized in executing a leadership style is relevant in making it outstanding, debasing, or confusing. Just like the driver in my encounter, some people, as they approach people or their targets in life, business, or career do not understand when…

I watched a musical video which in my opinion, a lot of money was spent producing it. My reason for making that conclusion was because of the expensive costumes and dancers that were used to shoot it. Till now, that awful lyrics and unpalatable symphony would not leave my head. In spite of the high cost of production, without apologies, the music was one of the worst I’ve ever heard since I became an adult. Come to think of it, I watched this musical video over 20 years ago. The most disgusting aspect of it was that, the various television stations kept playing the song over and over again, as if by doing that, people will be lured into purchasing the LP. As I daily, by compulsion, watched this musical, since there were limited television stations in my country those days, I kept wondering who on earth, advised this female…

Everyone is gifted; everyone has a talent: everyone has a treasure that can’t be measured. The problem with everyone is the problem of discovering what they have. Discovery makes recovery. If you cannot see what you have, you cannot recover what is yours. Your strength is in your gifts; your strength is in your divine endowment. Discovery is painstaking, but those who are determined kill the pains to get their predestined gains. Seeing what is in you gives you a clearer picture of what you should be, and what you shouldn’t be. Lots of people have lived and died without knowing what they should have been. Lots of people have wallowed in distresses, depressions, lack of fulfilments, and penuries because they never knew what they should be, and some still don’t know. Every man was made to fulfil an assignment on earth; every man was created to meet a specific…

The more I look inward, the stronger I become. The more I look upward, the higher my hope. I will never look around; if I do, I get rounded up. I will never look downward; if I do, I get dizzy. For every purpose proposed, there is a price to pay. You only receive the prize when you pay the price. Paying the price can be so pressing, but you don’t get the gain until you are drained. Draining sometimes appears like a bane, but in the end, you see you’ve been bailed. Don’t cry! You think you’ve been framed, but it’s taking you to fame!! I will watch you on that rectangular box in a day, inspiring your world till its end. God bless your day. When you commit spirit, soul and body to your call, things at first may appear to be stagnant. Your importunity will pay off, not just…

While in Secondary School (High School), I had a classmate who also lived in my neighbourhood. Our ambitions were to become medical doctors, as that was the profession in vogue especially among the old schools. Those days, we all thought that to be successful, you must be a doctor, lawyer or engineer. I guess we were ignorant of the true meaning of success. My friend and I read together almost daily. Because of our interest in studying medicine, we embraced the hardcore science subjects; Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics; then, we were in our third year. One day while studying, my good friend made a determined statement; he said, ‘I will keep studying sciences, even if I fail, I will never abandon sciences’.  His statement challenged me immensely; I was so inspired by it that I also resolved to work extremely hard in order to fulfil my ambition of becoming…

I watched an Aljazeera documentary on a young aspiring chef in Turkey who changed his life through the power of imagination. This 15 year old boy lived in one of the towns, and worked with his uncle as a trainee chef. His dream was to become one of the most celebrated chefs in Istanbul. He told his uncle that he wanted to move to the city, but anytime he raised some visionary questions, his uncle always told him to be silent. What touched me most in the documentary was when he was teaching younger trainee chefs how to use their power of imagination to get to their destinations. He asked them to rest their backs on a couch, close their eyes, and imagine where they want to be and who they want to become in a few years time. As they closed their eyes and imagined, one after the other,…

Talent is a special natural and innate ability to do things that the average human being cannot do. Talent is the aptitude, capability, expertise, endowment, and the capacity for achievement or success in a creative dimension. People with talents are gifted to operate in their areas of callings with unbelievable ease. Everybody craves for talent. Everybody honours talented people. Everybody respects talented people. Apart from the honours and respects bestowed on talented people, it has become obvious in the modern world that talented people earn far more than an average person in the street. So, talent introduces a man to the world of affluence and fame; talent introduces a man to the world of material abundance. However, I have discovered that possessing talent isn’t enough. I have realised that success can kill if not properly managed; good things can destroy if there are no checks and balances. There are two…

One day, while driving to work, I saw a space of land about to undergo development. On the contractor’s project notification board was written, ‘Breaking new grounds’. The slogan, if I may call it so, sent a great message down my spines because I saw beyond a building engineer asking the builders to dig a foundation meant for an edifice. In my thought pattern, I could imagine the type of mentality possessed by the contractor, and his ability to see beyond a physical construction. In the mindset of the engineer, as I empathically positioned myself, I saw the sprouting of new businesses, employment opportunities, growth and development, etc. I concluded that it takes someone that has a futuristic attitude to see beyond the immediate; it takes someone who is a visionary to look beyond what people with ordinary eyes can’t see. What does it mean to break a new ground?…
